Hello and welcome to Mayo CIL
It is the purpose of the Mayo Centre for Independent Living to work towards the full and equal rights of people with disabilities and their inclusion in all aspects of society.
Also to encourage and ensure the provision of appropriate services and supports to enable this to happen.
Our work is carried out within the social model of Disability and with emphasis on the philosophy of Independent Living.

What is CIL?
First CIL was founded by disability activists, led by Ed Roberts, in Berkeley, California.
The disabled person is at the center of the service.
CIL Mayo was founded for individuals between ages 18 and 65 with physical and sensory disabilities.
The number of Personal Assistents Mayo CIL employed in it's first year.
Who Are We?
Mayo CIL works within a social model of disability and emphasises the Philosophy of Independent Living. We promote the philosophy of Independent Living in the practical way we work in partnership with our members.
Mayo CIL recruit and organise Personal Assistants right across the county. We work in longer term strategic ways by providing training to our staff, other organisations, and the public
